Racial Harmony Day Celebration
21 July 2009

During Racial Harmony Day celebration, Teacher Nesa prepared an interesting lesson for the children. To create an awareness amongst the children about the different races and their culture in Singapore, Teacher Nesa decided to share a little bit more about her own culture too, by demonstrating to the children how to make the Indian snack called the Murukku.

The children listened and watched very closely, as Teacher Nesa explained the steps on how to prepare the Murukku.

While Teacher Nesa was squeezing out the shape of the Murukku, the children were so excited! Comments like "Wah! Look like toothpaste!", "I want to do it", "Round and round, like ice-cream!" were overheard.

Everyone had a turn to squeeze out the Murukku. Some were so eager and could not wait for their turn!

The children were having so much fun. Some were really concentrating as they made the round shape of the Murukku.

Ta da! A very nice, round Murukku!
